Over the course of my adult life, I’ve laughed, interviewed, and learned from thousands of women around the world.
In the first part of my career, as a writer, I traveled throughout east Africa; Zhengzhou, China; and Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, trying to understand if there is a woman’s wisdom. If there is a way we move through the world, specific to our intuition and inner knowing.
Later, as a wanna-be Hollywood executive-writer-creative in Los Angeles, I hid this part of me. No one seriously talks about such things.
Then, in running a startup, I really tamped down. Wanting to be taken seriously, I tucked away the myths, stories, and secrets told to me by women near and far about what it means to live fiercely, discern prophetically, and love wholeheartedly. I talked about EBITDA and valuation, but deep in the caverns of my mind, I remembered a question asked to me by a boss years ago when I first entered her office—
“Well, what kind of woman are you? The kind who touts around wearing fancy perfume or the kind that howls at the moon?”
While hosting and producing THE IDEALISTS., this pesky question keeps coming up. What kind of women are we? Or better yet, what kind of women can we become?
