“A year before (the London Olympics) I had this weird pain in my leg and I was like ‘What is happening?’ It would randomly shoot, but it was kind of dull… it was also kind of sharp… I couldn’t figure it out for a number of weeks. I ended up finding out that I’d developed a stress fracture in my femur. So, the biggest bone in my body was breaking in half a year before the olympics. The doctor originally told me I’d have to sit out for three months, and I ended up having to sit out for nine months. And everyone else around me is getting better, and faster, and stronger, and I’m just watching this dream slip away.”
In this week’s all-new episode of THE IDEALISTS., host and entrepreneur, Melissa Kiguwa speaks with Sarah Wells, a 400m Olympian hurdler who made her debut at the London Olympics in 2012 despite an injury that had her sidelined for nine months just a year before.
